Are you trying to start or add to a family but having difficulties? If you had children at an early age with ease but are having trouble later in life there may be a very common cause for these difficulties. However, you may not be aware of these five common facts about fertility. His and hers both.
Age related
Some women may choose a career over a family early on thinking that they will have plenty of time for a family later. Well that isn’t really the case. You see, around age 35 a woman’s fertility begins to decrease and continues to do so until menopause at around age 50, at which time you are no longer fertile.
It isn’t just women that develop fertility issues later in life. Most of you have probably heard that men can father children even in advanced age. Well this is true, but not without certain possible problems. One is that as men age their sperm count can become lower. Another is that the sperm they do produce may not be as healthy as it once was. Men of advanced age can also father children with chromosomal disorders.
Weight related
Obesity is another factor that can cause fertility issues. Men and women both that are overweight can experience infertility caused by this excess weight.
Promiscuity
If you had some wild years in your youth then you could have put yourself at risk. Untreated sexually transmitted diseases can cause fertility issues later in life for both men and women, putting your future family at risk of non-existence.
The odds are against it
If you want to have a child then all you have to do is, well, we all know what you have to do. Right? Not so simple. Your chances of becoming pregnant during any given month under normal conditions are only about 20%. This means that the odds of becoming pregnant are 8-2 against it.
Exercise is not good for you
Okay, well exercise is good for you, but overdoing it can cause a woman’s monthly cycle to become disrupted thus drastically reducing her chances of becoming pregnant. Proper nutrition and exercise are vital for your health, but if you spend many hours daily performing strenuous exercise this can disrupt your menstrual cycle and prevent pregnancy from happening.
These are but a few of the many factors involved in fertility, or rather infertility. The best advice to anyone wishing to have a child is that if you have been seriously trying for 6 months without success, it’s time to visit a fertility specialist.
